Au mois de septembre, je vous avais présenté un petit bijou, Le Monde de Downton Abbey, magnifique ouvrage sur la célèbre série britannique Downton Abbey, mondialement connue. Il s’agissait du livre compagnon des deux premières saisons, véritable mine d’informations sur la série, le tournage, les acteurs mais aussi l’histoire de l’Angleterre au début du XXème siècle. Ce second opus, lui, est consacré à la troisième saison mais plus généralement aux personnages. Les secrets sur la série et les changements que connaît le monde à cette époque charnière (la fin de la Grande Guerre) nous sont présentés à travers les portraits de chaque personnage.

Comme le premier, le livre commence par une préface de Julian Fellowes dans laquelle il revient notamment sur la création des personnages et ses inspirations. Ensuite, ce beau livre est partagé en 16 parties : Le comte et la comtesse de Grantham, M. Carson et Mme Hugues, Lady Mary Crawley, M. Thomas Barrow (un de mes chouchous), Mme Isidore Levinson, M. John Bates, Lady Sybil et M. Tom Branson (mes autres chouchous), M. Alfred Nugent, Lady Edith Crawley, Mme Patmore et Daisy, M. Matthew Crawley, Mme John Bates, Mme Reginald Crawley, Melle Sarah O’Brien, La comtesse douairière de Grantham, les coulisses.

Chaque personnage nous est présenté, comment il a été créé, quelles sont les personnes qui l’ont inspirées (il s’agit parfois de membres de la famille des acteurs !).
